Future of Food-BuildWhat drivers are impacting agriculture and construction today? More importantly, what’s on the horizon for these industries in the years to come? AEM member company thought leaders have been hard at work and engaging with one another to answer these questions and build a collective view on the future of food and future of building.

Guided by AEM’s Future Council, association Ag and CE sector leaders, as well as AEM staff, respective Vision Teams comprised of these thought leaders gathered at AEM’s Milwaukee headquarters this month to finalize nearly a year’s worth of collaboration spent examining the most prominent trends affecting ag and construction.

“AEM is determined to take an active role in shaping the future of the ag and construction industries for the betterment of all, and there’s no better way to prepare for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead than by consulting the valuable expertise and insights of our members,” said AEM Senior Vice President Curt Blades, who oversees AEM’s Ag and CE Sector activities. “The future of the agriculture and construction sectors impacts everyone, and it’s through the input of our members that we will learn where we’re headed and – more importantly – how we’ll get there.”

With the recent in-person meetings now behind them, the Future Vision Teams will now work to:

  • Fully form and articulate the various scenarios related to the future of food and future of building over the next 10 years
  • Identify what support mechanisms AEM can and should provide to help its 1,000-plus members, equipment end users and the markets they serve realize predicted scenarios
  • Provide input as to how certain relevant trends, processes and regulations will change in the years to come

“We're incredibly thankful for the input and contributions of our Future Vision Team members, as they have shouldered the tall task of identifying the signals that point to how the futures of AEM, its members and the customers they serve, will evolve,” said AEM Director of Education Programs Brooke Konopacki.

In the coming months, AEM will share more information on its efforts to develop a collective view on both the future of food and the future of building. For more information on the project, or on AEM’s Futures Council, contact AEM’s Brooke Konopacki at bkonopacki@aem.org.
