Wheat 103AEM was one of a number of organizations in attendance at last week’s National Wheat Growers Association’s (NWGA) Wheat 103 reception in Washington, D.C.

The event featured key stakeholders representing the many stages of the wheat value chain to give a complete picture of the vital commodity’s total economic impact. AEM was on hand to showcase the importance wheat growers play in supporting the 320,000 Americans employed in the agricultural equipment sector.

“Whether it was seed companies, growers, millers, bakers or food retailers, everyone in attendance was afforded opportunities to illustrate to lawmakers the value of the wheat industry beyond the farm-gate,” said AEM Senior Director of Regulatory Affairs and Ag Policy Nick Tindall.

The event was part of the NWGA’s and U.S. Wheat Associates’ Annual Conference, held from Feb. 11-15. Meetings between members from wheat states, the House and Senate Agriculture Committee, as well as their staff, focused on challenges and opportunities facing the wheat industry, trade, and implementation of the 2018 Farm Bill.
