AEM Senior Vice President of Government and Industry Relations Kip Eideberg was named a 2020 Top Lobbyist by the National Institute for Lobbying & Ethics (NILE).

According to NILE, the award winners are “professionals that saw significant legislative success in 2020, have been innovative in their field this year, are held in high regard by their clients, and are individuals who give back to their community through charity or pro bono work.”

"Representing equipment manufacturers is one of the most rewarding experiences of my life," said Eideberg. "Telling the manufacturing story, and the story of the 2.8 million men and women who make the equipment that helps build, power, and feed the world, is incredibly satisfying. The reason for that is Americans understand the power of manufacturing and how manufacturing has been responsible over the years for making us an exceptional nation."

“During the pandemic, many leaders in our profession have done remarkable work to ensure that Washington, DC responded to the public health and economic impacts of COVID-19,” said Tommy Goodwin, NILE’s volunteer president. “It is great to see NILE bring the lobbying community together to recognize our peers and colleagues who have gone above and beyond, both for those they serve and the profession more broadly.”

Eideberg joined AEM as its vice president of public affairs and advocacy in 2016, served as the interim head of the association's Washington, DC. office, and was promoted to senior vice president of government and industry relations and head of the association's DC branch in 2019.

During a year when the equipment manufacturing industry has faced difficult economic headwinds and an unprecedented health and financial crisis, AEM’s Advocacy Team, under Eideberg’s direction, stepped up to ensure that equipment manufacturers, suppliers, and distributors were designated as essential businesses and kept their operations running. Under Eideberg’s leadership, equipment manufacturers mobilized to make sure the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) won overwhelming bipartisan support, secured a one-year extension of the Fixing America’s Surface Transportation (FAST) Act, and also secured several legislative solutions for economic stabilization and future growth of the industry, including the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) ad the Main Street Lending Program (MSLP).
