Ag Tractor ReportsAEM released its monthly U.S. and Canadian Ag Tractor and Combine Reports earlier this week, and there were some key takeaways regarding equipment sales in January 2018 versus this time a year ago:

  • Canadian retail sales of large 4WD tractors jumped more than 68 percent in January, compared to one year ago.
  • Conversely, Canadian sales of self-propelled combined plummeted 45 percent last month.
  • Both U.S. retail sales of 4WD tractors and self-propelled combines rose considerably in January.
  • It was a banner month for sales in the U.S. overall, with only tractors over 100 HP seeing a (slight) decline, compared to a year ago.
  • Canadian retail sales fared better, though, with the drop in self-propelled combines offset by considerable increases in other product categories.
