NAFTAAEM’s Washington office is organizing member company comments to the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) ahead of an expected reopening of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) later this summer.

The Trump Administration formally notified Congress last week of its intent to renegotiate the terms of NAFTA with Canada and Mexico. But because of a mandated, 90-day period of congressional review, negotiations will not begin until later this summer.

Formal negotiations are set to begin in late August, and the USTR has invited public comment on NAFTA before that time.

AEM will submit formal comments highlighting our industry’s priorities as part of a renegotiated agreement, and encourages member companies to offer their own feedback or testimonials. Interested companies should contact AEM’s Alex Russ (, tel: 202-898-9006) by Friday, June 2.
