A newly established partnership is set to provide equipment owners, operators, trainers, and safety professionals with access to Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM) Safety Manuals through the National Safety Council (NSC)’s SafetyAtlas™ platform.
The formalized collaboration between AEM and NSC reflects both organizations' ongoing commitment to preventing injuries and fatalities through education, awareness, and continuous improvement. The availability of AEM Safety Materials within SafetyAtlas provides organizations with another trusted source of information to support onboarding, training, and ongoing professional development.

NSC’s SafetyAtlas is a convenient and comprehensive channel for organizations looking for resources to support safe equipment operation and workplace safety best practices. In addition to providing ready access to AEM Safety Manuals, SafetyAtlas is designed to help organizations strengthen safety practices, develop critical skills, and advance safety performance through training, tools, and resources.
Now in place, the partnership between AEM and NSC is poised to:
- Provide improved access to equipment-specific safety resources
- Enhance support for new operator onboarding and refresher training
- Lead to reinforcement of consistent operating procedures and best practices
- Strengthen safety awareness across construction, agriculture, utility, and industrial workplaces
- Showcase trusted safety resources through a centralized safety platform
AEM’s Safety Materials are consensus documents that are developed, reviewed, and approved by AEM member companies organized by AEM, and they represent best practices for the industry. The safety materials include manuals for more than 50 specific pieces of equipment, and they extend to additional collateral (such as videos, brochures, decals, and training kits).
In many cases, a manual is often assigned a part number in a manufacturer’s production process to ensure it is included with other safety literature when the equipment is sold into market. This integration with the manufacturing process strengthens AEM member companies in their risk management programs.
“AEM’s Safety Manuals are meant to be used in concert with OEM-developed Operation and Maintenance Manuals,” said AEM Senior Director of Safety Materials Jaime Vos. “Safe equipment operation doesn’t just happen. Our industry works together to help ensure equipment operators are aware of what they need to know to operate and maintain machinery safely and effectively, and our Safety Manuals play a huge role in ensuring best practices are understood and adopted.”
In addition, AEM recently launched a redesigned online store to provide customers with an improved way to access and purchase its Safety Materials. Built on a modern ecommerce platform, AEM’s online store (www.safetymaterials.org) is designed to deliver a more intuitive and streamlined purchasing experience for non-road equipment manufacturers, dealers, rental companies, contractors, and equipment owners to browse and buy the safety resources they rely on each and every day.
