Now that the midterm elections are over, a new Congress and President Trump are starting to look towards the new year to determine what they’ll be able to get done. A new public affairs campaign kicked off today by AEM is aiming to make that decision for them.

“Start with Infrastructure” begins running a six-figure, two-week public affairs campaign today. The campaign’s cornerstone is a new 30-second ad that’s appearing across multiple digital and social media channels in the Washington, D.C. media market. The goal of the campaign is to demonstrate the wide-ranging benefits of infrastructure investment to the nation’s economy.

In his official comments reflecting on the campaign, AEM President Dennis Slater said, “Our industry’s 1.3 million workers want Washington to start with infrastructure in the new year. This includes reaching an agreement on a long-term and sustainable funding solution for the Highway Trust Fund. By reclaiming our infrastructure advantage, we will ensure the safe and efficient movement of people and goods, connectivity between and within rural and urban America, as well as strong economic growth and job creation. Without it, our country risks losing tens of thousands of jobs and billions of dollars in economic activity if Republicans and Democrats don’t work together.”

The new campaign’s message is back up by polling showing infrastructure is one of the issues that was top of mind for many U.S. voters according to a new national poll released today by AEM. The poll results show over half of American voters believe infrastructure will help create jobs and make their commutes safer.
