Woods at KinzingerConnecting our nation’s elected officials with as many of our industry’s 1.3 million men and women is a powerful way to remind them how much policy decisions can impact equipment manufacturers. That’s what AEM’s national grassroots campaign, I Make America, continues to do this year with the latest stop this week at Woods Equipment Company in Oregon, Illinois, featuring a visit by Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-Ill.)

“I’m grateful for the opportunity to tour and visit the Woods Equipment Company today, and celebrate their more than 70 years of high-quality manufacturing in Oregon, IL,” said Congressman Kinzinger. “The employees I spoke with today spoke about their careers at Woods as being part of a family, with true pride in their work. This is a company that truly exemplifies the mission of I Make America in showing how important equipment manufacturing is here in IL-16 and across the country."

Congressman Kinzinger spent time meeting Woods Equipment with over 100 employees and answered their questions about a variety of policy issues, including the ratification of the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) and prospects of infrastructure legislation. The congressman toured the facility with Jerry Johnson, President of the Farm Ranch & Ag Division (FRAG) of Blount International, Inc, and current Chair of AEM’s AG Sector Board and Curt Blades, AEM’s Senior Vice President of Agricultural Services.

“Congressman Kinzinger has always been a strong supporter of Woods Equipment, our employees, and our community,” said Jerry Johnson. “It was great to visit with him again and show him the recent investments in our plant. He truly shares our pride in manufacturing American-made agricultural equipment right here in Oregon, Illinois.”

The important of the USMCA and Infrastructure investment is one of the many issues I Make America continues to advocate for during August congressional recess.

I Make America conducts dozens of similar events each year across the country with equipment manufacturers. If you have questions or would like to learn more about holding an event of your own, contact AEM’s Grassroots Advocacy Manager Wade Balkonis at wbalkonis@aem.org.
