RepublicansA delegation from the Republican Main Street Partnership (RMSP) visited CONEXPO-CON/AGG & IFPE 2023 for the first time in the history of the show. RMSP is a broad alliance of “conservative, governing Republicans, including more than 70 sitting members of Congress, dedicated to working to enact commonsense legislation.”

U.S. Representatives Lori Chavez-DeRemer (R-Ore.), Bill Huizenga (R-Mich.), and Mariannette Miller-Meeks (R-Iowa), along with staff, traveled to Las Vegas to tour the more than 3 million square feet of exhibit space, connect with industry leaders, attend education sessions and learn how the construction industry is evolving in many ways to adapt to sustainable technologies, products and practices.

The visit was an opportunity for equipment manufacturers and lawmakers to discuss how the innovations on display at the show will help construction professionals drive meaningful and sustainable economic growth. The three lawmakers together represent over 48,500 equipment manufacturing jobs, and they were eager to see first-hand how equipment built in their districts, from electric and hydrogen powered construction equipment to more recyclable materials and waste reduction opportunities, is moving the industry forward.

The three lawmakers spent a day-and-half touring the show, making stops at Astec, BOMAG Americas, Built Robotics, Caterpillar, CASE Construction Equipment, Cemen Tech, Ditch Witch, Eaton, John Deere Construction & Forestry / Wirtgen Group, Komatsu, McElroy Manufacturing, Morbark, Stanley Infrastructure, Topcon, Trimble, Vermeer Corporation, Volvo CE and Weiler.

“It was great to see first-hand the latest cutting-edge manufacturing equipment on display at the CONEXPO-CON/AGG. From construction sites to family farms, equipment manufacturers are supporting American agriculture, infrastructure, and job creators in Southwest Michigan and communities across the nation,” Huizenga said.

“I had a great time at CONEXPO-CON/AGG visiting with equipment manufacturers across the country,” said Miller-Meeks. “These companies ensure our manufacturers, farmers and producers have access to the best equipment to run their operations, which is vital to keep our economy booming. I appreciate their work, and I’m grateful to have been invited to attend the event.”

“America’s equipment manufacturers support millions of jobs, help complete critical infrastructure projects to keep our economy running smoothly, and empower our farmers to produce high-quality goods. I enjoyed participating in CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2023 this year to learn more about the progress the industry has made, and I look forward to working together to help our workforce operate efficiently to meet the demands of today’s economy,” Chavez-DeRemer said.

“We look forward to continuing to work with the Republican Main Street Partnership to advance pro-manufacturing policies that will help us build stronger communities, invest in our workforce, and ensure equipment manufacturers can compete in the global marketplace,” said Kip Eideberg, AEM senior vice president of government and industry relations.

AEM will remain in close contact with Representatives Chavez-DeRemer, Huizenga, and Miller-Meeks, as well as other members of the with RMSP, to push forward commonsense solutions to America’s toughest problems.
