Reframing a Legacy: CONEXPO-CON/AGG Launches Media Relations Advisory Group

In an industry known for heavy machinery and hands on innovation, the narrative surrounding construction equipment manufacturing often misses the mark.

And as the industry prepares for CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2026, AEM has launched a bold new initiative to shift perception, spotlight innovation, and build bridges with journalists who have traditionally not attended North America’s largest construction trade show: a Media Relations Advisory Group.

Why Now?

Despite its vital role—supporting over 2million U.S. jobs and generating $316billion in annual economic impactconstruction equipment manufacturing is frequently viewed through outdated stereotypes. In reality, today’s manufacturers are at the forefront of electrification, automation, telematics, safety, and sustainability. The Advisory Group is designed to surface those stories more effectively and use strategic storytelling to target a broader group of media outlets.

Who’s Involved?

Led by the CONEXPOCON/AGG Media Relations team, the inaugural group is made up of a diverse mix of communications and marketing professionals from across the CONEXPO-CON/AGG exhibitor base. Members represent companies of all sizes – from emerging innovators to global leaders and span the full range of construction sectors.

By bringing together this wide cross-section of industry voices, this group is uniquely positioned to align messaging, identify compelling stories, and elevate the shared goal of improving how the public and the press perceive construction equipment manufacturing.

The Bigger Picture

Members of the Advisory Group will begin strategy sessions this summer. But this is more than a oneoff PR push. It’s a strategic step toward modernizing how the industry communicates—to journalists and wider audiences—and aligning public perception with its technological leap. With OEMs embracing electrification, automation, and digital integration, the timing has never been better to tell a fresh story. By proactively shaping narratives, equipping spokespeople, and helping media tell the story of innovation and transformation, the group is working to set the stage for a reframed industry image—just in time for CONEXPO2026.
