CECA AEM hosted the top leaders of the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure (T&I), Chairman Sam Graves (R-Mo.) and Ranking Member Rick Larsen (D-Wash.) at CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2023. This was the first time in the history of CONEXPO-CON/AGG, owned and produced by AEM, that both the Chair and Ranking Member of the T&I Committee attended the show.

As the leaders of the T&I Committee with jurisdiction over all modes of transportation – our aviation system, highways and bridges, transit and rail transportation, pipelines, and maritime and waterborne transportation, Chairman Graves and Ranking Member Larsen have a deep understanding of how infrastructure and developments in technology will impact and benefit our economy, our communities, and our country. Their visit to CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2023 gave them a first-hand look at the equipment that help build, power and feed the world and discuss the challenges and opportunities facing the equipment manufacturing industry.

“I appreciate getting to meet and talk with members of AEM at CONEXPO-CON/AGG this year. There’s a significant amount of funding in the pipeline for infrastructure, but inflation is severely impacting the purchasing power of those dollars and how much work folks in the construction industry will be able to undertake. So, working with AEM and other key stakeholders, we need to ensure those dollars are getting invested in infrastructure projects that help move goods and people more efficiently, and that address the many supply chain challenges we continue to face,” said Chairman Graves.

“The convening of thousands of professionals and just as many pieces of off-highway equipment at the CONEXPO-CON/AGG trade show was a welcome reminder that the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) is putting highly skilled people to work building and rebuilding America. From supplying materials like asphalt, aggregates, and concrete, to providing services like earthmoving, trucking, and hauling, equipment manufacturing is central to implementing historic investments in our roads, bridges, rail systems, wastewater infrastructure and more. I look forward to continuing to see these companies leverage the investments of the BIL to create jobs and rebuild communities across the country,” said Ranking Member Larsen.

“It was an honor to host Chairman Graves and Ranking Member Larsen at CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2023. This was an incredible opportunity for the equipment manufacturing industry to show two of the top infrastructure decision makers in Washington how our industry helps rebuild roads and bridges, modernize ports and airports, replace lead pipes and deliver clean water, and expand high-speed internet. We look forward to continued collaboration with Chairman Graves and Ranking Member Larsen to drive investment in our nation’s infrastructure and competitiveness,” said Kip Eideberg, AEM senior vice president of government and industry relations.

During their tours of the 3 million square feet of exhibit space, AEM member company executives and product experts discussed how the construction industry is evolving in many ways to adapt to sustainable technologies, products, and practices. Chairman Graves and Ranking Member Larsen were treated to sustainability in action, from electric and hydrogen powered construction equipment, to more recyclable materials and waste reduction opportunities.

As AEM continues to advocate for increased investment in key infrastructure projects and initiatives, we are grateful for the opportunity to take two of the leading voices in the transportation and infrastructure space around the largest trade show in North America.
