“Within AEM, data is understood to be a strategic priority that helps bring value to our members and benefits to our industry,” said AEM Senior Director of Membership and Customer Success Sara Stromski. “You can help us better leverage our data to improve our organization by assisting our Account Success Advisors’ efforts to they verify important contact information in our customer resource management system.”

Impacting AEM’s Data Journey

In support of AEM's 2025-2027 Strategic Plan, association leadership identified nine priorities and goals to support engagement, programs, and decision-making.

One such priority involves launching the first phase of a data framework to support AEM strategic goals. To accomplish this task, AEM has moved forward with a phased approach to identify:

  • Operational efficiencies that improve day-to-day business operations with streamlined, standardized policies, processes, and procedures
  • Innovations that transform AEM by introducing capabilities that would enable exponential growth or significantly impact how AEM does business
  • An enterprise data program to leverage information-based assets to drive operational and strategic decisionmaking, as well as provide meaningful value to members

A key component of the work involves strengthening CRM data integrity and creating a stronger foundation for reporting and analytics. According to AEM Account Success Advisor Maxx Lebiecki, his data verification conversations with member company representatives have indicated a widespread eagerness to involve new people in AEM activities and initiatives.

“Not only have we benefitted from opportunities to get a few very solid contacts added who will make use of their AEM membership, but I’ve had a couple of conversations that have led to new sales and engagements,” Lebiecki explained. “The conversations have flown very naturally, because they usually stem from either an old contact being removed, and trying to explain why we need a new contact for involvement in a certain area. All in all, the members are appreciative that we’re working hard to make sure their data is correct.”

The Bottom Line

AEM’s data journey so far has made one thing clear: The goal is to make the association better, and collective intelligence can be a useful tool to help drive results, enhance value for the 1,000-plus members, and positively impact the entire industry.

“You can’t improve data until you know what shape it’s in,” said Stromski. “So, with that said, we appreciate the ongoing support of our members as we work to verify critical contact information and build a baseline of data quality.”
