Hargrove & Associates (HAI) announces AEM’s Sara Truesdale Mooney will assume the role of President of the Minneapolis, Minnesota-based provider of market intelligence and data solutions starting Jan. 1, 2025.

Mooney will replace HAI Interim Chief Executive Officer Angela Kay Larson. Larson, who took a leadership role in the organization in November of 2023, spent the past year working to craft a new strategic plan to propel HAI into the future, including further investment in the company’s best-in-class data processing systems, unparalleled customer service, and innovative new services for associations and their members.

“Sara’s appointment reflects HAI’s commitment to working toward a successful future that is focused on growing the business through delivery of exceptional value to associations and leveraging our combined strength in delivering both best-in-class data services and exceptional client service,” said HAI Board Chair Ken Bianco, vice president-commercial operations at JCB. “HAI is confident Sara will excel in this position as she works with the organization and its unmatched team of professionals. Looking ahead, there is no one better equipped to lead our next chapter.”

For 25 years, Mooney has built a successful record of accomplishment overseeing marketing and sales functions at AEM. In her current role as an AEM Senior Vice President, she has responsibility for association membership, sales, marketing, market share statistics, business intelligence, and IT. She currently sits on the Wisconsin Society of Association Executives (WSAE) Board of Directors, she holds the designation of Certified Association Executive (CAE) from ASAE, and she is a graduate of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Institute for Organizational Management (IOM).

STM“This has been a strategic planning year for HAI, and we are thrilled to welcome Sara and leverage her association knowledge to strengthen our focus on voice of customer to help HAI fully meet its goals related to our strategic plan,” said Bianco.

For more than 35 years, HAI has operated leading-edge, customized market data programs for AEM and other major trade associations. The company collects individual manufacturer data and aggregates it into Total Available Market and Market Share, enabling critical insights and data-informed decisions for association members.

HAI operates as a standalone subsidiary of AEM, which acquired the company in January of 2018. AEM (formerly EMI) has been an HAI client since 1989. They have a longstanding history of working together to meet and support AEM member company needs, all while maintaining a strict data firewall between the two organizations.

“With the help of AEM and its leadership, HAI will implement the transitional plan that’s in place to ensure a seamless handover of responsibilities,” said Bianco. “HAI is also grateful for the leadership of Angela Kay Larson during her time as interim CEO, and we look forward to supporting both Sara’s focus on the future of HAI and her continued success moving forward.”
