A hand holding a green globeThe desire to refocus certain activities associated with its Sustainability and Substance Compliance Councils has led to the formation of a new member-driven group at AEM.

AEM’s newly established Sustainability Regulatory Committee will be responsible for addressing the regulatory and compliance risk for the non-road equipment manufacturing industry’s products from a sustainability perspective.

“The purpose of this committee is to review and work on topics dealing with technical-based sustainability issues,” said AEM Senior Director of Safety & Product Leadership Jason Malcore, who will oversee the committee’s work. “The new Sustainability Regulatory Committee will replace the ‘Building Industry Alignment’ workstream of the Sustainability Council and reallocate its work to be aligned under AEM’s larger committee structure.”

AEM’s Sustainability Regulatory Committee is set to meet quarterly to discuss and address a wide scope of work. Examples include regulations and compliance issues, standards, non-tariff technical barriers to trade, or other technical issues facing industry that touch on sustainability concerns. Specific rules covered are Extended Producer Responsibility, Carbon Reporting, conflict minerals, recycling requirements, ESG reporting, among others.

About AEM’s Sustainability Council

AEM’s member-driven Sustainability Council seeks to move the non-road equipment manufacturing industry forward faster by aligning it as it prepares for increasing stakeholder expectations, as well as existing and developing ESG regulations to reduce member risk. It meets several times a year and focuses on the following tasks in support of the AEM membership and industry:

  • Address regulatory and compliance risk for the non-road equipment manufacturing industry’s products
  • Educate the industry on sustainability-related topics
  • Facilitate supplier education and enablement
