Ottawa OntarioAEM is proud to sponsor an upcoming C.D. Howe Institute luncheon featuring the Honourable Todd McCarthy, Acting Ontario Minister of Infrastructure, as keynote speaker. The event will explore the outlook for infrastructure investment and manufacturing competitiveness in Ontario as businesses and government continue to navigate uncertain economic and trade conditions.

The C.D. Howe Institute is one of Canada's leading independent policy think tanks, known for rigorous research and high-impact policy conversations that shape the country’s economic strategy. Its members include senior government officials at the federal and provincial level as well business leaders across critical Canadian industries, making it an ideal platform for advancing dialogue around important policy issues.

AEM’s Director of Government Affairs in Canada, Alexandre Mattard-Michaud, will deliver the events opening remarks, where he will outline our policy priorities in Canada as they relate to infrastructure investment, manufacturing, and trade resilience. The luncheon will feature direct engagement with a key provincial decision-maker at a pivotal moment for equipment manufacturing in Canada.

This event continues the momentum AEM is building in Ontario, where the non-road equipment manufacturing industry supports 60,000 jobs and adds $9.4 billion to the province’s GDP. AEM’s recent inaugural Queen’s Park Day brought together member company representatives from across Ontario and provincial government leaders, including Premier Doug Ford, for discussions focused on aligning AEM’s policy priorities with the government’s agenda. Conversations included navigating trade tensions and tariff pressures, accelerating strategic infrastructure investment, modernizing the permitting process, and bolstering food production and resource development.

Convening senior policymakers, industry leaders, and economic experts at one of Canada's most influential policy forums helps ensure our member concerns and competitive challenges are heard by decision-makers who shape Ontario's economic future.

Those interested in attending the event can reach out to AEM’s Director of Government Affairs in Canada, Alexandre Mattard-Michaud, at amattard-michaud@aem.org
