As trends shift and priorities emerge within non-road equipment manufacturing, AEM’s member-driven Sustainability Council is sharpening its focus on how the industry’s story is told – and how the association’s members can better showcase the meaningful progress already underway.

This year, that effort remains focused on a central theme: powering positive sustainability perceptions. Throughout 2026, AEM will work to bring new sustainability-related content in support of telling the story of AEM and our industry.

With the council’s first virtual meeting set for later this month, here’s a closer look at what opportunities lie ahead and (more importantly) how AEM members can engage throughout the year.

A Strategic Workstream Built to Elevate the Industry’s Voice

The AEM Sustainability Council’s Powering Positive Sustainability Perceptions workstream has a clear mission: Raise awareness of AEM, its Sustainability Council, and its members as leaders in sustainable innovation, navigating evolving ESG regulations, and reducing member risk.

This will continue to be accomplished in three key ways:

1. Promoting AEM Research and Sustainability Resources

AEM continues to release influential studies, whitepapers, and position papers that demonstrate how modern equipment and operational practices are delivering real world benefits and increasing efficiencies. These insights and resources, along with AEM's Sustainability Toolkit, are foundational to the workstream’s efforts to power positive perceptions.

2. Highlighting Member Expertise

Showcasing the industry’s leadership requires elevating the people behind the progress. AEM will continue to feature member perspectivessuccess storiesand practical case studies that illustrate how sustainability is intertwined with organizations across the AEM membership.

3. Increasing Visibility Through AEM Industry Advisor Content

The twice-weekly AEM Industry Advisor newsletter is the association’s flagship communications tool for amplifying member and industry content. AEM members are encouraged to:

How Members Can Get Involved

AEM’s Powering Positive Sustainability Perceptions workstream is actively seeking participation from across the AEM membership. Here’s how members can make an impact:

  • Share Valuable Expertise -- Have a sustainability-related perspective, case study, or trend insight? AEM wants to hear about it.
  • Join an AEM Sustainability Council Meeting -- Members are encouraged to participate as special guests — a chance to share experiences and elevate innovative ideas.
